Interactive Lectures – Workshop by Bridget Bolliger
How to Bake Flute with Three Essential Ingredients
Breath • Support • Airflow
A sensory and conceptual approach for flautists and teachers.
What if our technical and musical challenges as flautists could be solved by making the perfect batter?
In this imaginative and highly interactive workshop, Australian–Swiss flautist and educator Bridget Bolliger invites you to explore flute playing through three essential ingredients:
THE BREATH • SUPPORT • AIRFLOW
Just as the success of a cake depends upon its essential ingredients, Bridget proposes that these three elements form the foundation upon which our flute playing is built.
But what do we really understand about them?
Through a sensory and experiential approach, Bridget invites participants to question familiar ideas, explore new perspectives and experience these three essential ingredients for themselves — through the body, the senses, the imagination and, of course, the flute.
FEEL • SEE • WATCH • LISTEN • TOUCH • SMELL • IMAGINE
This is not a workshop about simply being told what to do. It is an invitation to become curious about what we feel and why — and to discover how something seemingly complex might become surprisingly simple.
First, we make the perfect batter. Then we decorate the cake.
